Alocasia Zebrina vs Frydek
Zebrina and Frydek are the two Alocasias people graduate to after Polly, and they fail in opposite ways. Zebrina's drama is in the striped stems, so it needs light from above or it stretches and flops. Frydek's drama is in the velvet leaf surface, which means dry air shows up as crisping within days. Choose based on which of those two things your home can actually provide.

The Verdict
Pick by your weakest condition. If your air is dry, take Zebrina and give it overhead light so it does not flop. If your light is one-sided but you can manage humidity, take Frydek. Trying to grow Zebrina in a dim corner or Frydek in a dry winter room is where both of these plants usually die.
