Fungal
Fungal Rot Spots on Aloe Leaves
Commonly affects: Aloe vera (Aloe Vera)
Circular, sunken, discoloured spots develop on leaves, sometimes with a soft or slightly fuzzy texture.
Potential Causes
- 1Various fungal pathogens entering through wounds or areas of trapped moisture
- 2Water sitting in the rosette centre after watering or rain
- 3Poor air circulation keeping leaf surfaces damp longer than necessary
Solution Steps
- 1Cut away affected tissue with a sterilised blade if the spot is limited and shallow
- 2Water at the base of the plant rather than overhead, avoiding the rosette centre
- 3Improve air circulation around the plant
- 4Avoid overhead watering going forward
Prevention Tip
Water at the base of an Aloe rather than into the rosette, so water doesn't collect and linger where fungal spots start.
