Septoria Spot on Passion Fruit
Commonly affects: Passiflora edulis (Passion Fruit)
Small, angular, grey-brown spots with darker borders scatter across leaves, eventually causing widespread yellowing and leaf drop in humid conditions.
Potential Causes
- 1Septoria passiflorae fungus spread by splashing water
- 2Extended wet weather or frequent overhead irrigation
- 3Infected fallen leaves left on the ground harbouring spores
Solution Steps
- 1Clear fallen leaf debris from around the base of the vine regularly
- 2Switch to base watering to keep foliage dry
- 3Remove and destroy heavily spotted leaves
- 4Apply a protective fungicide during extended wet spells
Prevention Tip
Keeping the ground beneath the vine clear of fallen leaves removes the main source of reinfection each season.
