Fungal Leaf Spot on Spider Plant
Commonly affects: Chlorophytum comosum (Spider Plant)
Small, circular, dark spots appear on leaves, sometimes with a yellow halo, distinct from the tip-only browning of water quality issues.
Potential Causes
- 1Various fungal pathogens favoured by high humidity combined with poor air circulation
- 2Water splashing onto leaves during watering
- 3Overcrowded plants restricting airflow
Solution Steps
- 1Remove and destroy severely affected leaves
- 2Improve air circulation around the plant
- 3Water at the base, avoiding wetting the foliage where possible
- 4Apply a fungicide if the problem is spreading significantly
Prevention Tip
Fungal leaf spot appears as scattered circular spots, distinct from the tip-only browning caused by water quality â the pattern helps tell them apart.
