Powdery Mildew on Kiwi Leaves

A white powdery coating develops on leaf surfaces, particularly in humid conditions with poor airflow through a dense canopy.
Potential Causes
- 1Fungal spores favoured by humidity and dense, still growing conditions
- 2Overcrowded canopy on the trellis restricting airflow
- 3Shaded growing conditions with limited air movement
Solution Steps
- 1Prune to improve airflow through the canopy, especially removing excess interior growth
- 2Apply a sulphur-based fungicide at first signs of white patches
- 3Water at the base rather than overhead
- 4Remove heavily affected leaves
