Brown Spot on Passion Fruit Leaves
Commonly affects: Passiflora edulis (Passion Fruit)
Circular brown spots with concentric rings appear on leaves and can spread to stems and fruit, causing premature leaf drop and sunken fruit lesions.
Potential Causes
- 1Alternaria passiflorae fungus, favoured by warm, humid, wet conditions
- 2Overhead watering keeping foliage wet for extended periods
- 3Dense canopy limiting airflow
Solution Steps
- 1Remove and destroy affected leaves and fruit promptly
- 2Water at the base rather than overhead
- 3Prune to improve airflow through the canopy
- 4Apply a copper-based fungicide if the problem is recurring
