Powdery Mildew on Strawberry Leaves
Commonly affects: Fragaria × ananassa (Strawberry)
A white powdery coating develops on leaf surfaces, sometimes causing leaves to curl upward at the edges, and can affect fruit quality in severe cases.
Potential Causes
- 1Fungal spores favoured by moderate temperatures and high humidity without necessarily needing free water
- 2Dense plantings restricting airflow
- 3Stressed plants showing increased susceptibility
Solution Steps
- 1Remove heavily affected leaves
- 2Apply a sulphur or potassium bicarbonate fungicide at first signs
- 3Improve spacing and airflow between plants
