Slow Establishment in Newly Planted Strawberries

Newly planted strawberries grow slowly and produce little fruit in their first season, showing minimal vigour compared to expectations.

Solution Steps
- 1Remove flowers in the first season on newly planted strawberries to redirect energy into root and crown establishment (a technique called 'blossom removal')
- 2Plant with the crown at soil level — not buried, not exposed — for best establishment
- 3Water consistently during the first season while roots establish
- 4Be patient, since the first full harvest typically comes in the second year
